Per´s comments: Bakalar 10— is still our highest rated Czech beer, even though the old brewery closed down long ago, and I´ve had the old Pivovar Rakovnik poster still on my wall. So it was a delight to find the beers from the re-opened Pivovar Rakovnik at Pivnie Galeri in Prague. It poured deep golden with rich head and a spicy, somewhat metallic aroma. It was dry with dense, soft malt character, low on diacetyl. Rather bitter finish. It was probably more technical correct than the version from the old brewery, but also with much less character. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
