Ohhh... My Head...

Stockholm Beer Festival used to be the highlight of the year, and a place where almost all small Swedish breweries showed off their products. Now it has gone downhill a couple of years, and it is now very close to hitting rock bottom. If it weren't for the less than a handful of importers and breweries that are really good, there will be no point in visiting the Festival. It seems the smaller breweries and some of the specialised importers can't afford a the steep fare to be at the festival, and those who actually showed up did not have too much new, at least for me.

So instead of a feast in good Swedish beers we had to look elsewhere for the goodies: Brasserie des Cimes won a double in our ratings, with two excellent Belgian style ales. The bronze was snatched by the unfiltered version of the flavourful Lundgrens Lager.

One thing that made the festival worthwile was the Irish playful microbrewery Dwan's. Not only did they offer typical Irish brews like stouts and Irish ales, but also a good pilsener and a wacko Belgian/German/British/their-own-style ale called Euro Paddy.

Another good thing was that the pub Oliver Twist in cooperation with the British embassy had brought a lot of Scottisch microbrews.

But, as a final word to the organizers I would like to say: make sure that the smaller Swedish breweries are there, or at least my interest will be lost...
