Yours truly got sent to Dallas and had the opportunity to drink some beers over there.
I visited three brewpubs, of which Big Bucks in Grapevine, just by the airport was my favourite.
Both Big Horn and TwoRows were rather average, even though TwoRows Imperial Stout
stood out among a bunch of not overly inspired beers.
However the real thing was a visit to The Flying Saucer in Addison. This placed is packed with taps pouring American microbrews, and - perhaps better yet, I had the opportunity to meet up with a bunch of fellow beer geeks from RateBeer.com. Together we shared sampled loads of good beer during a couple of hours and I had immensly fun. In the end my favourite beers of this week was Saint Arnolds Cask Ale, the cask conditioned variety of their Amber ale, a very enjoyable clash of British and American beer culture. Also the, by US westcoast standards, mildish Lagunitas New Style Old Ale really did appeal to me. | |||||||
