An exotic evening of beer

The members of the group, and friends of it has returned home from the four corners of the world carrying heavy loads of bottles. A lot of (to us) lesser known beer countries were involved. We had the opportunity to, for the first time rate beers from countries such as the Ukraine, Romania, Indonesia and Morocco. The quality of the brews were a bit varied, but there were some unexpected highlights, such as the semi-dark Ukrainian lager Obolon Oksamitore from the Obolon brewery in Kiyev, and the Moroccoan Flag Speciale. The groups favourites of the night was however the German schwarzbier Schwarzer Steiger along with the Czechish Starobrno Lezák.

The Romanian beer Arabema and the Croatian Karlovacko Ovijetlo Pivo did not end up as the groups favourites... A thing that struck me was the common use of sugar in the brews, especially from Hungary, but I believe also Croatia and Slovenia, that gave a not too nice off-flavour.
