The last months of 2002 were good for beer hunting and we had plenty to drink before the year was over. We owe a lot of people for that, so thankm you Duff, Jacob Lövenlund, Josh, Martin Mirceski, Mark & Paul, Berit, Pehr and whoever I've forgotten! The winner on this list is an American with a very good reputation: The rock solid Schlafly Winter ESB from S:t Louis in Missouri. It edged out the complex coffee-like La Saint-Monon Bière Brune with another American winter seasonal, Anchor Our Special Ale 2002 taking 3rd position. Just outside the podium there are two highly interesting brews: Maelstrøm, a heavily hopped Dutch barleywine, and Mountain Goat Surefoot Stout, a solid stout from down under. Looking further down the list we'll find two fairly unknown and rare Trappist ales, the lighter versions of Chimay and Orval. Both of them however are pretty light and does not match their stronger brothers. Another fun thing is that we managed to increase our country count to 123, through adding Albania and Papua New Guinea to the list. We also managed to find a new contender for the worst ever beer: Tuborg T-Beer, so cheaply made that it hurts...
