| Per´s comments: This, the first, real, commercial Swedish rauchbier I´m aware of is made from smoked malt form the new Mackmyra whiskey distillery. It pours nut brown with rich, rocky head. Woody, smokey nose. Medium bodied. The smoke level is not as outspoken as in the Schlenkerla beers, the mouthfeel might be on the clean side, and the bitterness is low. It´s aiming for balance, which is difficult to achieve in this odd style, and it does a good job at it. Would be perfect to a steak, but on it´s own I´d prefer a beefier, smokier version. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
